TORRINGTON >> Five Points Gallery, Torrington, will open a new show on Thursday, Sept. 11 which will run through Oct. 11. The opening reception will take place on Friday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. An artist panel discussion, moderated by Joseph Montebello, will be held at the gallery on Friday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend both events.
Intricate Networks, a show featuring the work of Harriet Goldman Caldwell, will be on view in the East Gallery. Caldwell was educated at the Hartford Art School, University of Hartford. Her works have been featured in numerous one person and group exhibitions nationally including: Providence College; Rathbone Gallery; The Sage Colleges, Albany NY; Lincoln Theatre, New Haven, CT; The Discovery Museum and the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts, Grand Rapids, Michigan. She has received many awards for her work, which includes a 2012 Fellowship from Connecticut Office of the Arts; a 1996 Painting Fellowship from the Connecticut Commission on the Arts; a grant from the Puffin Foundation; and a Millay Resident Fellowship. Caldwell’s work has been included in ‘Tu non uccidere”, (Thou Shall Not Kill) humanity and timeliness of evil, Damiani editore (published in Bologna, Italy). She is an adjunct professor at the Hartford Art School, University of Hartford. In 2010 she received a Sustained Excellence in Teaching Award from the University of Hartford.

TORRINGTON >> Five Points Gallery presents American painter, Maureen Gallace, in conversation with Joseph Montebello on Saturday, Sept. 27. The talk, which is part of the gallery’s 2014 Lecture Series, is free and open to the public and will be held in the gallery at 33 Main Street at 7:15 p.m.. Doors will open at 7 p.m. The lecture is free and open to the public, and the artist will be available for questions and discussion immediately following the lecture.
Seating is limited; those interested in attending the lecture are encouraged to pre-register for free admission on the gallery website (fivepointsgallery.org). This lecture series is sponsored by LPDM Fine Arts.
The lecture will be preceded by a 6:00 pm champagne reception. Tickets for this special reception are $100 and include a reserved seat at the lecture. Tickets for the champagne reception may be purchased via the gallery website (fivepointsgallery.org).
