Brief History
Founded in 2012, Five Points Gallery presents exhibition of regional, national and international artists. Located on the corner of Water and Main Streets in the heart of historic downtown Torrington,Five Points boosts visitors from nearly every town in Connecticut, 19 states and 9 countries.
In 2018 Five Points Gallery officially changed its name to the Five Points Center for the Visual Arts. Although Five Points has never been “just” a gallery, the transformative additions of The Five Points Hartford Art School, University of Hartford Launchpad Initiative and the new community pop-up gallery, the Five Points Annex, have prompted this name change in order to better reflect Five Points’ commitment to community outreach and the further expansion of its educational programs.
The Five Points Center for the Visual Arts is actively exploring the purchase of the former University of Connecticut Regional Campus on University Drive in Torrington, while still maintaining its firm commitment to its downtown presence. The campus property with its well-maintained 29,000 - square foot classroom building and 90 bucolic acres, is envisioned as a dynamic facility for cutting edge exploration and community driven activity. This nearly unprecedented combination of a respected contemporary gallery and a state of the art educational center complete with an Art Park has the potential to significantly strengthen the social fabric and economic health of our region and State.
