Jennifer Sabella Artist Statement

My paintings represent an active dialogue between gravity and the human need for control. The endless possibilities suggested by line and color continue to
inform my work, but the essential meaning of these pieces arises out of the process of their making. My work requires total focused concentration and is very physical.

Each movement of my hand and body is directed toward manipulating the laws of physics, creating order out of eventual chaos, precision vs. lack of control. In other words, taking something simple and complicating it.
