American Dream is a series of large scale diptych and triptych paintings that deal with elements of contemporary consciousness and anxiety. The paintings are figurative based and utilize color as a way to communicate feelings. Influences for this body of work included painters of the Venetian Renaissance, the rich storytelling of Baroque painters in Northern Europe, and the artist’s early contemplative life as a student of Catholicism. In these paintings, every brushstroke has meaning and the work is kept fresh by a spontaneous and direct attack on the canvas.
